Metal Deposits in Relation to Plate Tectonics
In this book metal deposits, in particular those of non-ferrous and precious metals, are classified and analyzed in terms of their plate tectonic settings. This approach allows a meaningful treatment of metal deposits of different types and provides significant insights into both their genesis and formative environments.
Contents: Introduction: Plate Tectonics and Geology.- Convergent Plate Boundary Environments: Principal Arcs and Their Associated Metal Deposits. Metal Deposits on the Inner Sides of Principal Arcs. Metal Deposits of Arc-Related Rifts. Additional Aspects of Arc-Related Metallogeny.- Divergent Plate Boundary Environments: Metallogeny of Oceanic-Type Crust. Intracontinental Hotspots, Anorogenic Magmatism and Associated Metal Deposits. Metal Deposits Associated with the Early Stages of Continental Rifting. Metal Deposits Related to Advanced Stages of Rifting. Metal Deposits in Relation to Collision Events. Metal Deposits and Plate Tectonics - An Attempt at Perspective.- References.- Subject Index.
