Song Meter Mini Bat 2 Ultrasonic Recorder (AA Battery)

The Song Meter Mini Bat 2 provides a smaller, lightweight and affordable alternative to the Song Meter SM4BAT whilst offering extremely long battery life and upgraded quality-of-life features. It develops the design of the original Mini Bat series, eliminating the fully detachable lid and instead opting for a hinged watertight lid and providing the capacity for 8 AA batteries giving the recorder up to 50 10-hour nights of recording.

Unlike its predecessor, the Song Meter Mini Bat 2 is now tripod mountable using the 1/4" tripod connector, or it can be fixed directly to surfaces via included screw holes through the case. It can now also be fully secured using a python lock, giving peace of mind when leaving the device in the field. It now features a hinged waterproof lid to allow easy access to the interior and superior weatherproofing to an IP67 rating.

The integrated microphone offers excellent recording quality, comparable to the SM4BAT with the SMM-U2 microphone, and has the capability to record in full-spectrum or zero-crossing, or both at the same time. You can also use it to record bird song and other sounds in the audible range by adding a second acoustic microphone (not included), although it cannot produce acoustic and ultrasonic recordings simultaneously. The schedule, set-up, and status of the recorder are operated via Bluetooth using an app that can be downloaded to your iOS or Android phone/tablet. There is also an option to set the location of your Mini Bat using the GPS from your mobile phone. The app is simple to use and allows you to manage multiple recorders simultaneously. Checking the status of your recorder is unobtrusive and does not require opening the unit but can instead be done using the LEDs on the unit itself.

Power is supplied internally using 8x AA batteries (included in the starter bundle) for up to 50 ten-hour nights and recordings are stored on an SD card up to a maximum capacity of 1TB. Longer recording times of up to 125 ten-hour nights can be achieved via the Lithium-ion version Song Meter Mini Bat 2. This series is compatible with Kaleidoscope Pro Software to help analyse your recordings.

This detector is also available as a starter bundle which includes the detector, 8x lithium AA batteries and a 64GB SD card.

PLEASE NOTE: A separate lithium-ion battery lid is no longer available for the Song Meter Mini Bat 2. Instead, a dedicated lithium-ion version of the recorder is available here, and has the capacity to record for up to 125 ten-hour nights.
