Zoologia Neocaledonica , Volume 3 [French]

This third volume in the Zoologia Neocaledonica series continues the study of the unique fauna of New Caledonia, a biodiversity hotspot in the Southern Hemisphere. Eighty-three new species and three new genera are described, belonging to the Crustaceans, Myriapods, and especially the Diptera insects. The systematic and biogeographical affinities of more than 300 taxa are discussed in this volume, which is illustrated with nearly 500 figures. The three editors of this work participated from the outset in the Museum's "Evolution and Vicariance in New Caledonia" program and have already published some of their results in this series.

Ce troisième volume de la série Zoologia Neocaledonica poursuit l’étude de la faune si particulière de Nouvelle-Calédonie, ce « point chaud » de la biodiversité dans l’hémisphère sud. Quatre-vingt-trois nouvelles espèces et trois genres nouveaux y sont décrits, appartenant aux Crustacés, aux Myriapodes et surtout aux Insectes Diptères. Les affinités systématiques et biogéographiques de plus de 300 taxa sont discutées dans ce volume, illustré de près de 500 figures. Les trois coordinateurs du présent travail ont participé dès la première heure au programme « Evolution et vicariance en Nouvelle-Calédonie» du Muséum, et ont déjà publié une partie de leurs résultats dans cette série.
